Deuteronomy 6:16 Illustrated

Deut 6:16 Illustrated by Mark

Mark from Proud Atheists takes the cake with the following display of unbridled stupidity:

I have filled a glass of water and it is sitting on the countertop in my kitchen. If any Christians would like to pray to Jesus and ask him to change the water into wine, feel free to do so.

If the glass of water turns into wine, I will not only become a believer in Christ, but I will eat dog shit sandwiches for one day (a minimum of 3). How long is this challenge? I am allowing 48 hours for you to prove your faith and strength of your mythical beliefs.

First, I would just like to say, that it would be hilarious if someone broke into his house and replaced the water with wine while he slept.

As much as I would like to see video of Mark eating dog poop sandwiches, the very fact that he mentions he will do this betrays how likely he thinks the water-wine conversion is. His predisposition is already negative going into the little “test” that he has manufactured. A positive result–the water actually turning into wine–is probably going to matter little to someone with the atheist “A” tattooed on his shoulder. He’s already picked a side.

  1. “Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false, in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.”

The passage your link was pointing towards. Well, I have to say that that doesn’t seem very nice of God who is supposedly infinitely good. He is punishing people because they did not accept something that was completely unsupported by evidence.

Well, you have to notice that the Bible (as do all religions) attempt to explain why certain things going counter to faith happen. In that way, anything can be accepted. They always say it’s a sin to disbelieve, that it’s normal that things don’t seem the way the Bible claims, annihilating any desire of the inquisitive, yet fearful, religious person to question his faith. It’s all too easy; without those things religion wouldn’t have survived so well…

    • Interesting way of looking at things.

That’s if and only if believing in God is completely unsupported by evidence. I disagree on that point. I believe that it is reasonable to believe in God, and to do so on the basis of what evidence we have.

But of course things are going to happen that are contrary to faith. And I think that the Bible does a great job anticipating what things will happen contrary to the Christian faith and explaining why they happen. I point frequently to the passage above (2 The 2:11-12) to illustrate the point that, at some point, people get themselves to a point where they just won’t believe. And then God hardens their hearts and that’s all she wrote.

Mark isn’t the only one. Vjack of Atheist Revolution seems to have incurred that same fury of God’s wrath. After all, Vjack once posted that, no matter what happened, he could never believe in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. So there’s 2 Thessalonians 2:11-12 illustrated.

  2. Hahaha!! But as you have, I thought that post was rather funny…

  3. Have fun making excuses for your imaginary three-sided friend.

To clarify, my article was based on…

    Mark 9:23…
Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

Jesus said it, not God or the Holy Spirit.
I find it quite amusing how Christians cherrypick from the Old Test. to justify their disappointments.

I have a better idea….Christians should convert to Reform Judaism. Jesus was a Jew. Jews make better citizens than Christians. You know why? >>>Yom Kippur and Mitzvot<<< When Paul dropped these practices to convert more Greeks, Christians became
lesser than the religion they detached from (Judaism).

  4. First, I would just like to say, that it would be hilarious if someone broke into his house and replaced the water with wine while he slept.

Not a chance of that happening. Just take my word on that…that’s all I can say.

A positive result–the water actually turning into wine–is probably going to matter little to someone with the atheist “A” tattooed on his shoulder. He’s already picked a side.

Everybody is born without a belief in any god. Likewise, everyone is born with total innocence. Children are corrupted by parents that tell them lies about imaginary friends and that they (the children) need to ask Jesus for forgiveness, making that child feel sub par.

Christianity is a cockroach religion, as it invades and takes…more than it gives. Watch out though! The suicidal religinuts(Muslims) are coming to your neighborhood and they will squash you, just like your Christian forefathers did to the American Indians. Will your Jesus save you from their wrath? Nope! You’ll finally get a taste of what your religion has done to many other cultures. Isn’t your “God” great?????????
