New PowerPoint Presentation: Proving No One Can Get to Heaven
This is a PowerPoint presentation answer to the video “Proving No One Can Get to Heaven.” You can download the presentation here. Enjoy! As always, feel free to drop a comment to my e-mail or leave feedback below.
NEW: Josiah Concept Ministries Monthly Newsletter
This month, we are launching a new feature: the Josiah Concept Ministries monthly newsletter. In this first issue, read about my daughter’s first steps, some commentary on the debate with Matthew Bellisario, how the Pope is realigning the Catholic Mass, and Todd Bentley stepping down from ministry. All that and more packed into four pages!
To print, set your printer to print like a book. Then load two sheets of legal-size paper and go. You’ll need a PDF reader.
Download the file here.
E-mail any comments, positive or negative, on the newsletter to me or comment on this post. I look forward to hearing any and all feedback you may have!
A Couple of Updates
I have just compiled my posts on unconditional election into one long article here. Some minor revision may still be necessary, so feel free to e-mail the criticisms to the usual place!
I have settled on the original theme for the blog for right now. It is still the best one, I think.
I am planning to offer some commentary on the tablet that will supposedly devastate Christianity shortly, but I’ve had a lot of things come up in business and personal life that have been getting in the way. So I apologize for promising it and then not delivering. It will be posted within the next couple of days. Sorry again for the delay, but I appreciate the patience.
The Tablet that Ends Christianity?
“Corporeal” of the Rational Response Squad says that the recent discovery among the Dead Sea Scrolls gives Christianity a “death blow.” What is it that he speaks of? Why it is a tablet that contains a myth about a savior who dies and rises again on the third day. Thing is, this tablet predates Jesus by decades–and the story, therefore, is probably much older than that.
Here’s the story. Is it the end of Christianity as we know it, or something altogether different?
Personally, I think that it is something altogether different. I think that this tablet actually strengthens the case for Christ and for Christianity. How, do you ask?
Well, I won’t say just yet. Let’s just say that I agree with Ben Witherington and Theology Web member “ApologiaMonk:”
In Christianity, this was all said to be done according to the Scriptures and that the Scriptures might be fulfilled. If someone reading the OT sees it beforehand, why should that cast doubt on what happened?
Nonetheless, many opinions, both scholarly and otherwise, have been and will be advanced on this topic. Originally, I had planned on following this story without offering much in the way of commentary on it. However, I’ve been asked by Rook Hawkins of the Rational Response Squad to offer whatever insight I can to the equation. So in a future post, I will do just that.
Meanwhile, feel free to discuss the find below in comments, here on Theology Web, or here at the Rational Response Squad forums. My comments will follow by Wednesday of this week. I have three full days off to study this find and offer an informed opinion.
STYLISTIC CHANGE: Divine Pronouns
Out of respect for God, I have capitalized all pronouns that refer to him, to Jesus, and to the Holy Spirit. However, after some careful consideration, I’ve decided that it will make life a lot easier, and essays much easier to proofread, if I cease this practice.
From now on, all divine pronouns will be lowercase. This is consistent with most translations of the Bible, and many devotionals and other books that I’ve read. This will affect all sites that I webmaster–this one, God is NOT Imaginary, God and Amputees, and Fast Food Management Secrets (though I doubt that this decision will affect the fast food site much!).
New Website
I’ve decided to refute the unfortunate website Why Won’t God Heal Amputees point by point. The format will be similar to God is NOT Imaginary. I’ve already got two chapters done! Check out the new website at http://godandamputees.wordpress.com.
Eventually, I hope to give God is NOT Imaginary and God and Amputees their own domain names. That probably won’t happen for a long while, though.
Been Blogging Lite for too Long
I haven’t been blogging much lately because I’ve been going through a lot in my personal life. My grandmother, Virginia Tucholski, passed away last week. She went quickly and painlessly, which is an answer to prayer. It isn’t like I’m never going to see her again; we will meet again in the resurrection, but that is still no consolation for the present. Between the showing, the funeral, and just plain dealing with this tragedy, I haven’t had much time to blog.
Fortunately, now all is over and done with, and I will be able to return to my regular blogging schedule. So stay with me and more updates will come soon. I’m still looking to answer Rook Hawkins’s reply to me, but I still need to do some more research. Look for that reply sometime next week.
Two Down, One to Go
As of today, I have been mentioned on two of the three core Rational Response Squad member blogs. I was mentioned by Sapient in glowing terms for my series of articles dealing with the unchristian behavior of Frank Walton. Now, I have the dubious honor of being “refuted” by Rook Hawkins, the historian of the group.
I will read this piece and prepare my response as quickly as time allows.
Now all I need is a mention on Kelly’s blog and I will have been mentioned on the blog of all three core RRS members. Do I get a medal for that? Or a call from the President? Probably not, but I should at least get a cookie!
God is REAL!
I’m up to proof #45 on God is NOT Imaginary (http://weknowgodisreal.wordpress.com) for those of you that follow that site. Check it out!
I should be able to finish the remainder of the proofs either tomorrow or Thursday.
No More Podcasting
I regret to announce that Josiah Cast is officially done and over with. I was going to do one more episode, where I answered Sean Hutton’s comment on my Catholic Mass article, however due to time constraints I am not going to be able to do that episode.
I enjoyed podcasting, so I will definitely bring Josiah Cast back in the near future. Right now, with returning to school, working, fatherhood, and other ministry commitments, it isn’t feasible to continue podcasting.
As for the response to Sean Hutton, I will craft a written response in the early portion of next week, after I finish dissecting Rook Hawkins’s “Which Jesus: A Legend with a Multiple Personality Disorder?” I plan to delve into Rook’s article about the apostle Paul after that.
My answer to “Which Jesus?” will be up a little later than expected. I had to do more background reading than I thought. It’s still a fairly easy article to tackle once the underlying presupposition is taken care of.
