Homosexuality: Nature or Nurture?
Posted by Cory Tucholski on June 15, 2009
Though it has long been my position that homosexuality is nature, there is new scientific evidence to suggest otherwise. There may, in fact, be more environmental factors than genetic factors in the homosexual lifestyle.
More to the point, it appears that there is simply a lack of evidence to prove that there is a so-called “gay gene,” and that same sex attraction (SSA) is an environmentally induced decision. At least that is what Joseph Nicolosi, founder and director of the Thomas Aquinas Psychological Clinic says.
His message to gays: You can change. He has had success in reparative therapies for homosexual persons, and believes that we, as Christians, should witness to our gay brothers and sisters and let them know that they don’t have to be homosexual. That homosexuality is nature rather than nurture is actually a political statement by the American Psychological Association (APA), and has no basis in scientific fact.

Interesting yet ignorant post. Proven fact: 98% of the homosexual community would not change their orientation if given the option to (aka the magic pill question). They don’t care if you say they can be healed: they’re happy and that’s our purpose in life- happiness.
Cory Tucholski said
No, our purpose in life is to serve our Creator and Lord. He has defined what pleases him in regards to human relationships and marriages. Therefore, we should strive to follow those guidelines instead of letting a political machine like the LGBT movement tell you how to think on matters of marriage.

I’m having a difficult time locating any journals you have published in. Can you direct me to their websites?

“Homosexuality: Nature or Nurture?”
Neither. There is no such thing as a homosexual. There are only heterosexuals and bisexuals. The myth that the guy your wife hangs out with all the time (not your personally, but rhetorical you) is safe because he’s gay is a myth, because he’s really bi and he probably already had sex with her. In fact, homosexuals are even beyond bisexual. They are omnisexual and will have sex with animals without blinking an eye. This is the kind of thing people do when they are taught they’re born evil, which is the standard teaching of both Gaydaism and Calvinism.

That was interesting. Long on assertion, short on documentation.

Why don’t you just leave the whole gay thing alone. They aren’t bothering you. Also, being gay is not a choice. No one choses to be gay. Did you choose to be straight? or were you merely born that way?

Where, may I ask, have I ever said that homosexuality was a choice? I said that there is no scientific evidence to support that it is nature, and that there are more environmental factors involved than genetics. You don’t read carefully. I also linked to a post that directly says I believe that it is something that you’re born with. But I’m the one who lacks credibility?

i was merely making a point

there’s no need to be rude. how does someone like you have such a big ego?

okay let me break this down for you….my comment was directed at Joseph Nicolosi’s gay therepy thing. i said leave the gays alone simply because there are so many posts on the subject and was suggesting to move on. then i followed that with my opinion on the subject (being gay is not a choice)…and i asked you a question (were you born straight? etc) as writer of this blog, to get you involved and get your opinion on the subject. i was bringing you into the conversation…it seems really unnecessary for me to have to completely break down a little comment so you can understand it. and understand that i was not accusing you of thinking a certain way…just voicing my opinion and getting you involved to find out yours.

My opinion is that gays are born that way, but that doesn’t automatically make it a good thing. Alcoholics are born that way. Rage-aholics are born that way. Compulsive gamblers are born that way. No one is seriously going to argue that those things are good traits to have by virtue of the fact that we are born like that. Why would homosexuality get a free pass?
Again, you can read more about that in the above linked post.

I’m not published yet. I also haven’t been working on it; just been trying to build a decent blog for right now.

And what point was that? That you can’t read what’s in front of you? That you don’t bother to follow links to find out someone’s actual point of view on a subject before commenting on it?
